alexandra meyn

Alexandra Meyn is an American artist long captivated by the intersection of form, function, pattern, and color. She produces across disciplines on a daily basis, thereby blurring the perceptual boundary between art and function. Drawing inspiration from a variety of influences (including ethnographic arts, botany, design theory, and textiles), she is passionate about the intersection of historic craft and contemporary demands. Preserving a space for mystery to exist is her only boundary.

With a BFA in ceramics from Lewis & Clark College, an MBA from the University of Arizona, and an MS in Interior Architecture from the Pratt Institute, she brings a broad foundation of experience to her projects. She launched her studio in Kauai, HI in 2016. Coming from a long line of New Orleanians, she has recently relocated her studio to the Bywater neighborhood of that culturally vibrant town. There, she is embarking on revitalizing a quirky historic property to house her multi-generational family, her growing studio, and promote all things “maker-made” both she and her partner create and cherish.

PHILOSOPHY + SERVICES

We aim to create consummate spaces. Through the use of form, dynamic tension, materiality, and a strong sense of play our chief objective is to leaven the human experience. Specializing in both residential and commercial interior architectural projects, we work comfortably within an existing envelope and equally cherish adding character + aspect to the bones of new construction.

Responsibility and originality are our ethos. We embrace collaboration, value open dialogue, and cultivate relationships with extraordinary craftspeople to achieve customized results. With an eye on the entirety of a project’s scope, we endeavor to create a spatial narrative that harmonizes history with technological efficiencies.

Our services include architectural drawings, construction oversight, furniture + decor packages, as well as logistics management and installation. We are here to steward your project from conception to completion and sincerely look forward to doing more of what we love in partnership with you.
